Born in Kigonsera Mbinga, Ruvuma Region, in 9th June 1961, Edgar Walter grew up in typical workers family in different hospitals in Tanzania, the retired parents were Nursing Officers. He earned his MSc. in ICED at Southern New Hampshire University, Postgraduate Diploma in Watershed Management at ITC Netherlands, BSc in Forestry at SUA and Diploma in Forestry at Olmotonyi.

He is a father of five children. Edgar has worked with the Tanzania Government at different capacities from 1984 as a District Forest Catchment Manager, Assistant Forest Plantation Manager, Forest Plantation Manager, Head of Forest Plantation, Acting Director of Planning and Resource Utilization, Chief Executive of Tanzania Tree seed Agency and retired from a 37 years career as a Director of Tree Seed Production of Tanzania Forest Services Agency in June 2021. The same year he joined Tupendane Foundation and Initiatives (TUFOI), having fallen in love with Children, Education and Environment he established and is running TUFOI with other members like a family. He is one of the five founding directors.

Edgar has always had a passion for helping people, especially children, disabled. He has been supporting Tumaini Children’s home for over 10 years and has served as a board member for OIKOS East Africa. He is currently working at TUFOI as a Director and envisions a health stable economically community with children acquiring better education and livelihood
