Safeguarding Policy

1. Purpose

Tupendane Foundation and Initiatives (TUFOI) is committed to protecting the dignity, rights and wellbeing of children, women and other vulnerable, marginalized, voiceless, underprivileged and disadvantaged members of the communities we serve.

The TUFOI Constitution recognizes children and women among vulnerable and disadvantaged groups and establishes the organization's commitment to improving access to education and social services.

2. Our Commitment

TUFOI works to support communities facing poverty and limited access to quality education and essential social services. Our mission includes supporting children through education, shelter, food, accommodation, stationery and uniforms, as well as advocating for rehabilitation services for homeless children, orphans and vulnerable or abused children.

In carrying out this work, TUFOI is committed to:

  • Respecting the dignity and rights of children and vulnerable people.
  • Promoting the protection and wellbeing of children and women.
  • Supporting safe and respectful environments during organizational activities.
  • Promoting awareness of children's and women's rights.
  • Treating concerns relating to vulnerable people seriously.
  • Ensuring that organizational activities are conducted consistently with TUFOI's mission, objectives and Constitution.

3. Children and Vulnerable People

TUFOI recognizes that children, orphans, homeless children, abused children and other vulnerable people may require particular care and protection.

Our Constitution specifically provides for advocacy for rehabilitation centers for homeless children, orphans and vulnerable or abused children and for empowering children with basic education needs.

Everyone representing or participating in TUFOI activities is expected to behave responsibly and respect the people and communities supported by the organization.

4. Rights and Respect

TUFOI promotes respect for the rights of children and women as part of its organizational mission.

The organization also expects its members to participate responsibly in organizational activities and to comply with the Constitution and organizational resolutions.

Failure to adhere to the organization's Constitution or resolutions may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the organization's governance procedures.

5. Raising Concerns

Anyone who has a concern regarding the treatment, safety or wellbeing of a child or vulnerable person involved with TUFOI is encouraged to raise the concern with the organization's leadership.

Organizational conflicts are addressed through the governance process established in the Constitution. The Board is responsible for settling conflicts within the organization, and matters that cannot be resolved by the Board may be referred to the General Meeting.

6. Responsibility

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility. TUFOI members and representatives are expected to act in a manner consistent with the organization's Constitution, mission and objectives.

TUFOI will continue to promote the protection, dignity and wellbeing of the children, women and communities it serves.
