Computer Lab

In today’s world, information technology is a key component in the success of any country. Unfortunately, the high cost of education to acquire computer related skills in Tanzania prevents underprivileged students from availing these skills which are in demand. Most of Tanzania Schools from Pre-Primary to Secondary schools are being challenged by a lack of computers completely or having small number of computers. 

According to Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) report of the Year 2020, Tanzania has 18,152 Primary with 10,925,896 Students and 5,143 Secondary schools with 2,473,506 Students in Tanzania, as well as more than 81 colleges. Almost 90% of the schools have no computer Laboratory. There is a steady population growth and increasing demand for education in Tanzania, this has led to continued growth of up to 5% annually in the education sector.

The TUFOI is developing a project of smart computer lab which will implement an integrated learning management system in schools to facilitate teaching and learning through Digital Contents Technology. The system will comprise of e-learning platforms, school management software, Online Digital Books, computing infrastructure and Other Learning Recourses. The system will help schools go paperless, enhance teaching, learning and improve school management.

Therefore, we will be re-launching our new smart computer lab program in January 2024 in 3 ward secondary schools and 1 primary school. By the time the children complete grade 6 , they will have reached level of using all basic computer programs. Thus, the children will have formed a solid computer foundation before joining secondary school.
